M. B. "Poor Boy" Barrentine

Mr. M.B. "Poor Boy" Barrentine, 85, died Wednesday, December 14, at Sandhills Regional Hospital in Hamlet.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Central United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Quinton Covington.

He is survived by two daughters, Emily Bennett and husband, George and JoAnn Nunnally and husband, Joel of Laurinburg; one step-sister, Elizabeth Hatchell of Latta, SC; two half sisters, Pansy Barrentine and Margaret Pate of Laurinburg; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lessie Taylor Barrentine, his step-mother, Letha Deans Barrentine and two half brothers, Bill Barrentine and Robert Barrentine.

Born August 28, 1920 in Dillon County, SC, he was a son of the late Jasper and Ethel Carter Barrentine. He was a retired painter and a member of Central United Methodist Church. "Poor Boy" enjoyed fishing at the beach and was a friend to many.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
