Luther "Buddy" Edward Cassidy

Luther “Buddy” Edward Cassidy, 75, of Mt. Gilead passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at his residence.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by Tony Sedberry. Burial will follow at Southside Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, face masks are recommended and please practice social distancing.

Born August 3, 1946 in Anson County, he was a son of the late Luther Lloyd and Grace Elizabeth Knotts Cassidy. Luther was employed with Capel’s for many years where he worked in the weaving room.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Irene Welch Cassidy of the home; sons, Petty Lee Cassidy of the home, Jeffrey Todd Cassidy of Troy, and Robert Edward Cassidy of Star; daughters, Crystal Cassidy of the home, and Renae Barry of Wadesboro; sisters, Frances Callicutt, Patsy Downer, and Sue Cassidy of Rockingham; brother, Melvin Cassidy of Rockingham; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his son, Luther Edward Cassidy, Jr.; daughter, Lekita Cassidy; brother, Bord Cassidy; and sister, Lee Cassidy.
