Luis Alberto Gonzalez, 17, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in Cementerio General in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
Born November 25, 1900 in Lincoln County, NC he was a soccer player in middle school and on the wrestling team at Scotland High School.
He is survived by his parents, Jesus Gonzalez and Marcela Carranza; two brothers, Jose Gonzalez and Marco Gonzalez of Laurinburg; a sister, Jennifer Gonzalez of Laurinburg; his maternal grandfather, Luis Carranza of Costa Rica; his paternal grandmother, Julia Obando of Costa Rica.
