Lucy Norton Martin, 96, died Thursday, March 11, at Morrison Manor.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Johns United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Kelly Hunt and Rick Hodges. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.

She is survived by a son, Walker Martin, a daughter-in-law, 2 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

Born May 4, 1913 in Scotland County, she was a daughter of the late David B. and Sallie Leggett Norton and widow of the late David W. Martin. She was the last of ten siblings.

Lucy graduated from Fletcher Memorial High School as the second in her class and went to Roper Hospital in Charleston to study and practice nursing. After becoming a registered nurse, she then went to Children's Hospital in Wilmington, and later worked several 15 years for Drs. Owens, Jennings, and Charles in Bennettsville. She later served with Scotland Memorial Hospital and was a staff nurse for the Scotland County Health Department from 1956 until her retirement in 1976.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
