Clarence Lowell Hunsucker age 90 of Troy, NC passed away Monday, December 4, 2023 at Autumn Care in Biscoe.

A funeral service will be held Friday, December 8, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Rodney Holmes. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service in the church.

Lowell was born to George Horace Hunsucker and Hattie Pauline Hall Hunsucker on August 12, 1933, in Montgomery County.  He was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife of nearly 64 years, Barbara Ellen Leach Hunsucker who is the daughter of Leo Walter Leach and Sadie Ellen Gibson Leach.  Also preceded in death by his son, Mitchell “Mickey” Lowell Hunsucker; brothers, George Homer Hunsucker and wife Ruby Gibson Hunsucker, Othar Calvin Hunsucker and wife Nellie Thomas Hunsucker; sisters, Linda Marie Hunsucker Stevens and husband Ronald Carl Stevens Sr., and Mary Christine Hunsucker Lemons; sister-in-law, Mildred Frances Allen Hunsucker; half-brother Horace Allen Hunsucker Sr., son-in-law Tony Levingston Burris, and daughter-in-law, Virginia “Ginger” Harris Hitt Hunsucker.

Surviving are his son, Joe Hunsucker and wife Jean Blakely Hunsucker; daughters, Charlene Hunsucker Burris, and Tina Hunsucker Thompson and her husband Timothy W. Thompson; daughter-in-law, Deborah “Debbie” Dunn Hunsucker; brother, Delma “Dink” Hunsucker, and brother-in-law, James “Jimmy” Lemons; grandchildren; Tomica Burris Fuller and husband Chad Fuller, Julie Hunsucker Knox and husband Randy Knox, Meridia Burris Faulkner and husband Kyle Faulkner, Wesley Hunsucker and wife Veronica Mull Hunsucker, Tova Thompson Tildsley and husband Michael Tildsley, Jr., Heather Hunsucker Elam and husband Brian Elam, Tavia Thompson Housley and husband Derrick Housley; and great-grandchildren: Olivia Knox, Reagan Fuller and Jax Fuller (twins), Luke Fuller, Sophie Elam, Rylen Housley, Emerson Elam, River Elam, Kaia Faulkner, Zara Faulkner, Rowen Hunsucker. Extended Family: Kemberly “Kem” Hitt Snyder, Melissa “Missy” Hitt Saunders and husband Mark, Jeff Hitt.

Lowell was employed at Capel Rugs in Troy for over 52 years, retiring in 2002.  He was a lifelong member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church singing in the choir for many decades, and he was a member of the Mount Carmel Quartet, The Friendly Five, and multiple Gospel singing duets, trios and groups. He loved to sing as there was always a song in his heart.

He loved people and seemed to be the center of attention with his extraordinarily witty and keen, light-hearted, clean-natured humor that was infectious. Everyone would always have an enjoyable experience while in his company, and they would usually leave with a smile on their face. He was a simple, gentle, kindhearted, fun-loving, God-fearing, gentleman who never met a stranger. Lowell was loved and respected by all who knew him, especially his family.
