Mr. L. B. Singleton, 99, formerly of 303 West Boulevard died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at Autumn Care in Shallotte.

A graveside service will be 5 p.m. Thursday at Hillside Memorial Park officiated by the Rev. Dwight Williams.

He is survived by a two daughters, Suzanne Gibson and husband, Gib of Rockingham, and Marilyn Singleton of Sunset Beach; a sister, Jean Robbins of Aberdeen; three grandchildren, Claire Gibson of Columbia, SC, Bryan Gibson of Rockingham, and Darius Raji of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Florence Singleton.

Born September 5, 1905 in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late John M. and Lena Alice Leach Singleton. He obtained his education at Davidson College, UNC-CH and received his Masters at Columbia University.

L. B. was a teacher, coach, principal and worked for the NC Dept. of Agriculture, was a educational director with the Civilian Conservation Corps, and was personnel director for Waverly Mills until his retirement in 1970. Following his retirement he started a moving and storage business which he operated until 1989.
