Born on June 22, 1949, in Montgomery County, to the late Garland and Beulah Richardson Lemonds. In his younger days, Lonnie, alongside his brother Oscar, co-founded Lemonds Drywall, a company that left its mark on many surrounding counties with quality sheetrock and drywall jobs. Lonnie took great pride in his work, often reminiscing about past projects and pointing them out during road trips. Lonnie was a giver and a lover to people. He would give you his last penny or the shirt off his back if you needed it.
He was an outdoorsman at heart, and spent countless hours in nature, enjoying long hunting trips, riding horses, and going to field trial competitions for fun.
A true classic at heart, Lonnie cherished the simple pleasures of watching his favorite television show, "Gunsmoke," and indulging in old John Wayne movies. His family fondly remembers the sound of the TV volume turned up high as he became engrossed in the Western tales of courage and frontier justice.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Hulin Lemonds, of Troy; children, Rodney Lemonds of Troy, Rhonda Miller of Salisbury, Sonja Davis of Randleman, Logan Sanders of Troy, and April Lemonds of Troy; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Guy Lemonds, Oscar Lemonds, Charlie Lemonds, and Winfred Lemonds; and his sister, Sudie Stoker.
Memorials may be made to Keaton’s Place, 120 Worth St., Asheboro, NC 27203.
