Linda (Mcnett) Yarnell

Mary Linda McNett Yarnell, age 87, formerly of Laurinburg, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Emerald Health and Rehab in Lillington.

Born July 17, 1934 in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late William Brown and Elizabeth Vardell McNett.  She taught school at Covington Elementary, Scotland High School and Central School.  Ms. Yarnell started a senior’s program after her retirement for the mentally and physically challenged.  Her father was a noted medical illustrator who taught at Johns Hopkins University and her grandfather, Charles Graves Vardell, was a co-founder of St. Andrews Presbyterian College, now known as St. Andrews University.

She is survived by her three sons, Cameron Yarnell of Flat Rock, NC, Daniel Yarnell of Princeton, NJ and Kevin Yarnell of Montreal, Canada; her daughter, Janie Y. Whitlock of Durham, NC; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her brother and sister.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
