Mrs. Lillian Douglas Poe Hasty, 90, of Scotia Village died Tuesday, September 30, 2008.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Scotia Village. Visitation will follow the memorial service.

She is survived by a son, Hank Ward of Magnolia, TX; a daughter, Betty Davis of Edisto Isle, SC; a stepson, Wilson A. Hasty, Jr. of Conover; 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Born October 5, 1917 in South Hill, VA, she was a daughter of the late William D. and Lorena Douglas Thornton Poe and widow of the late Henry Davis Ward of Lumberton and the late Wilson A. Hasty of Rockingham. She was a graduate of Meredith College and briefly taught French and high school history.
