Leonard Smith

Joseph “Leonard” Smith, 92, of Troy passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Hospice of Randolph in Asheboro.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced.

Born May 18, 1930, in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Carmie Victor and Bernice Saunders Smith. Leonard had served in the US Air Force and would later become owner/operator of Smith’s Dry Cleaners in Troy for over 40 years. He loved playing golf because that’s all he ever cared about.

He is survived by his son, Jeff Smith of Troy; daughter, Jennifer Smith of the home; sister, Marie Donathon of Wadesboro; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Greene Smith; brothers, Billy Smith, and Gerald Smith, and his sister, Marceline Nelson.
