Leonard J. Brenner, 88, died Friday, October 12 at UNC Hospitals.
A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Laurinburg Presbyterian Church. A family committal service will be 1:30 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Whaley Phillips Hunt Brenner; a son, Joseph Brenner (Ellen Schoffer) of San Francisco; a daughter, Sara B. Delaney (Charles) of New York, NY; step-sons, Johnny Hunt of New York, NY and Grayson Hunt of Southern Pines; step-daughters, Bess Ledford (Phil) of Lexington, KY and Helen Hunt of Laurinburg; a daughter-in-law, Carol Moss of Berkhamsted, England; grandchildren, Lilly Delaney, Joe Moss Winstone, Katie Moss Jones, Frances Monroe, Elizabeth Monroe, Monroe Henson, Alice Ledford, and Ashley Hunt; 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, John Moss.
Leonard was a US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and later served in the communications industry. He loved classical music, oil painting, and spending time at the beach. He will be remembered by most for his ever-present smile and friendly nature.
Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
