Lena Taylor Smith, 94, passed away Wednesday, December 17.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Central United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
She is survived by her son, Joffrey Smith of Laurinburg; her daughters, Ann Stewart of Laurinburg, Brendia Forbes of Elizabeth City, and Elizabeth Rozier Smith of Lumberton; her sister, Dot Snead of Laurel Hill, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren.
Born April 22, 1920 in Scotland County, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Eliza Ann Sessoms Taylor and widow of the late Joffrey "Joe" Smith. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Grover, Ervin, Pete, Archie, "Doll," and Rufus Taylor and sisters, Annie Carter, Dora Belle Brigman, Mae Taylor, Evelyn Snead, and Carolina Turner.
Lena served as a sewer for Springs Mills for over 30 years and was a most active member of Central United Methodist Church. She was "Ma" Smith to many as her loving and caring home, became a gathering place for family and friends and home was always open. She always put God first, teaching moral values in a Christian home.
Memorials are requested for Central UMC, PO Box 397, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
