Lemuel Mccoy Jackson

February 12, 1942 — September 24, 2024

Laurel Hill

Lemuel McCoy “Jack” Jackson passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at his daughter’s home surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium Chapel officiated by Pastor Bo Loranger.   Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Born February 12, 1942 in Wayne County, NC to the late Prentis and Julia Jackson.

McCoy was a hardworking, loyal, devoted and loving family man.  He met and married his high school sweetheart of 63 years and had an amazing journey together from NC to VA and finally settling in Laurel Hill NC.

He enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR with his grandsons, Will and Troy every Sunday cheering on the #3 The Intimidator and Dale Jr.

He loved teasing family about how to make his secret sauce for the pigs that he passionately made every April and September for all to enjoy while making sure to keep enough to stockpile the freezer.

He also enjoyed drag racing.  When he was younger and even won a trophy (which wouldn’t come as a surprise if you had ever ridden with him).

He had a variety of jobs which included management until his retirement.  He enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife and family.  He will be truly missed by all.

He is preceded in death by his treasured daughter, Teresa C. Jackson; dear brother Wyatt “Bo” Jackson; caring sisters, Marian Cotton and Judy Rierson; and his canine sidekick, Starr.

Left to cherish his memory, his caring, devoted and beloved wife of 63 years, Hilda Grace Keel Jackson; outstanding daughter, Wendy Locklear and dedicated son-in-law, Chris Locklear; four exceptional grandchildren, Will Jackson (Jessie), Troy Jackson (Robin), Reva Ivey (John) and Tiffani McMillan (Matt); 15 rambunctious, adorable and loving great-grandchildren; his kind hearted sister, Shirley Best; a special brother-in-law, Roger Keel; special sister-in-law, Sue Bass; and a host of nieces and nephews.
