The Rev. L. Everette Peele, 83, of 21321 Aberdeen Road died Wednesday, January 17, at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the North Laurinburg Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. Terry E. Peele.

He is survived by his wife; Nancy Smith Peele; two sons, The Rev. Terry E. Peele of Burlington and David Peele of Hamlet; a daughter, Diane Priest of Laurinburg; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Born November 1, 1921 in Scotland County, he was a son of the late Lawrence Edgar and Celia Jane Jackson Peele. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II, receiving the Purple Heart. For many years he was in sales with Holly Farms and later a truck driver for Covington Redi-Mix. He also started South Laurinburg Baptist Church in 1963.
