Laura Hoyl Thomas, 96, of Scotia Village died Tuesday, September 13, 2011.
A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Morris Morgan Room, Scotia Village. Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Dawson, GA.
She is survived by her nieces, Betty Hasty of Laurinburg, Eloise Carter of Raeford, and Gayle Cramer of Carrollton , GA; great nieces and nephews, John Hasty, Flora McCook, Elizabeth Sutton, and William Carter; several great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Elizabeth Hoyl formerly of Scotia Village and Ann Hoyl Upchurch former of Raeford.
Born February 15, 1915 in Leesburg, GA she was a daughter of the late James B. and Eloise Cocke Hoyl. She was a graduate of Florida Southern University and taught primary school in Fort Lauderdale, FA. After retiring she worked in accounting for Maus-Hoffman Clothing.
Laura has been a resident of Scotia Village since October 13, 1992 and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends prior to the service and following the service at Scotia Village.
