Larry Wayne Saunders

Larry Wayne Saunders, 74, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at Mt. Olivet Methodist Church Cemetery at a later date.

Born March 28, 1946 in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Samuel Paul Saunders, Sr. and Elsie Kimrey Saunders. Larry was a teacher at Grimsley High School and was the head of the math department. He loved teaching, playing piano, bingo and his nieces and nephews. Larry had a huge sense of humor.

He is survived by his nieces; Lou Ann Saunders Smith (Robbie) of Troy, Paula Kim Saunders of Asheboro; his nephews, Jamey Andrew Saunders (Gail) of Troy, Sammy Saunders, III of Asheboro, Todd Craig Saunders and Brandon Alex Saunders of Shelby; and his sister-in-law, Betty Ann Saunders of Troy.  He is preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Wade Saunders and Samuel Paul Saunders, Jr., and his niece, Karen Beth Saunders.
