Larry Eugene Ponder, 78, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Regency Hospital in Florence.
A Memorial Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church, officiated by the Rev. JaVan Saxon. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
Born December 1, 1938 in St. Louis County, Missouri, he was the son of the late Hubert August and Emma Bertha Nitch Ponder. He attended Washington University in St. Louis and worked as a Quality Control Engineer for Marley Electrical in Bennettsville. He served as Treasurer for the Knights of Columbus and also helped with the Jaycees in St. Louis. Larry enjoyed woodworking and playing golf.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret D. Ponder of the home; his daughters, Sherri (Harold) Cole of Spring Creek, NC and Chylene (Chris) Taylor of Laurel Hill; grandchildren, Landon Coyne, Ryan Coyne, Haley Powell, Chad Cole and Matthew Taylor; and sister, Jo-ann Davis of Laurinburg.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2017 at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
