Landon Patrick Chavis

Landon Patrick Chavis, 84, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021 at Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, NC.

A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Hillside Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Randy Locklear and Rev. Woody Byrd. Due to Covid-19, please wear a face mask and practice social distancing. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home’s Facebook page. Mr. Landon will lie in state at the funeral home from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Tuesday, January 5, 2021.

Born on July 1, 1936 in Robeson County, he was a son of the late Dan and Avie Jane Sanderson Chavis. After serving in the US Army and National Guard, he retired from Campbell Soup as a supervising mechanic.

He is survived by his daughter, Cherrill Goodwin and husband Chris of Newport, NC; his grandchildren, Melissa Smith, Albert Smith, Patrick Smith and wife Crystal, Christopher Goodwin and wife Sharon, and Henry Goodwin; and great grandchildren, Dalton Smith, Danica Smith, Jenna Smith, Wyatt Goodwin and Preston Goodwin.
