Kelsie McNeill Adams McCall passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Scotia Village.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 24, 2 pm until 3 pm at Scotia village in the Morris Morgan Room.
Kelsie was born August 18, 1921, a daughter of the late Sidney Corbett and Lilly McNeill Adams. She was the wife of Hugh M. McCall, who died in July 1978; also predeceased by a son, Hugh M. McCall, Jr. in 2013.
Kelsie was a lover of horses and enjoyed riding as a child. She enjoyed her early education in Gibson schools and graduated from Flora MacDonald College. Many of her childhood friends also attended FMC and many were near and dear during her years at Scotia Village. She cherished her time at FMC and was proud that her granddaughter, Mary, graduated from St. Andrews Presbyterian College, which was a college formed from FMC. She also was proud of the accomplishments of her two grandsons, Hugh McCall III and Kevin McCall. Kelsie's spirit was always lifted by visits from her two great-grandchildren, Elayna and Elliott, her best friend – her sister-in-law, Mrs. John W. (Ruby) Calhoun, and fond friend – Mrs. Calton E. (Frances) McCall.
She and Hugh Raised three children, Mary Ann Anderson ( Charlie) of Summerton, SC, Hugh McCall, Jr. (deceased) (Alison) of Greenville, SC and Emmy Gainey (Brownie) of Wagram, NC. She and Hugh especially enjoyed vacations in Florida and the Carolina coasts. Kelsie loved working in her flower garden and was an accomplished pianist. A favorite tune of her children was her rendition of "Autumn Leaves".
She was a member of Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of various women's clubs in Laurinburg over the years. She was a proud member of Clan McNeill and enjoyed attending the Highland Games, wearing her McNeill tartan. Her favorite painting was of Kisimul Castle on the Isle of Barra, Scotland, home of her ancestors. Kelsie was also very proud of her poet laureate/relative John Charles McNeill.
Tha mi gad ionndrainn, Mathair. ( I will miss you, Mother.)
