Katie M. Johnson

Katie Marie Johnson, age 43 of McColl, SC passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025.

She was born February 26, 1981 in Washington. Katie was the daughter of Gerry and Rita Johnson of Hickory, NC. Katie worked various jobs over the years, but was most appreciative for the past 5 years she worked with East Coast Signs in Laurinburg, NC, where she was more than just a valued employee but instead became family. She was a kind, sweet soul and always put others before herself. She was a ray of sunshine to everyone she met. Katie attended Lighthouse Nation Church where she was first known as the girl that wore the cowgirl boots but quickly became so much more. She was truly grateful for everything and everyone in her life. She was a true lover of life; she loved nature, animals (especially her Pitbull “Gypsy Girl”), all things cow print, her music (it soothed the soul), and gardening. Her best and beloved accomplishment were her sons, Christian Vavalis of Colorado and Donovan Reeves of Laurel Hill.

She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory: her parents, listed above, her beloved sons, Christian Vavalis and Donovan Reeves; brother, Robert Johnson; nieces, nephews, friends and her beloved pup, Gypsy.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Lighthouse Nation Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
