Kathryn H. Russell

Kathryn H. Russell, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Autumn Care of Biscoe.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Center Methodist Church in the Blaine community, officiated by Rev. Derald Smith. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born May 29, 1935, in Randolph County, she was a daughter of the late James “Jimmy” and Bertha Harvelle Hardister. Kathryn's life was marked by her unwavering kindness, dedication to her family, and her love for the simple joys in life. Her love for the springtime was as perennial as the season itself. Her garden was a vibrant tapestry of color and life, carefully tended with the same love and attention she gave to her family. Her pets, ever-present companions, were a source of comfort and joy throughout her life. Kathryn's passion for the beach was matched only by her devotion to the church, where she was not only a member but a pillar of the congregation through her active involvement.

She is survived by her sons, Anthony Russell (Darlene) of Troy, Greg Russell (Vicky) of Asheboro, Gary Russell and Larry Russell of Troy; sister, Maxine H. Richardson of Troy; grandchildren, James Richard "JR" Russell, Lori Beth Russell, Derek Church, and Julie Church; and great-grandchildren, Bronwyne Tilley, Ashton Russell, and Skylar Russell. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of many years, Richard Leon Russell; sisters, Anna Lee Simmons and Madeline Simmons; and brother, Charles Hardister.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service in Troy.
