Kathern Marie (Stubbs) Walters

Kathern Marie Stubbs Walters, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, at the age of 66 at Morrison Manor.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, June 2, 2025 at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium Chapel, officiated by Rev. Garry McMillan. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Born on December 26, 1958, in Richmond County, she was a daughter of the late, James Robert “Dudley” Stubbs and Evelina Brigman Stubbs.

Kathern's journey through life was marked by her unwavering faith in God and her deep-rooted belief in the goodness of people. She lived a life filled with joy and simple pleasures, often finding peace and contentment in the tranquility of the mountains. She took immense pride in her family, dedicating her life to their happiness and well-being.

Throughout her life, Kathern exemplified the virtues of hard work and selflessness. She had a heart that always thought of others, and she extended her helping hand without hesitation. Her ability to find joy in the simple things, never asking for much, was a testament to her contented spirit. Kathern's presence was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her loving, kind, and thoughtful nature was an inspiration to everyone she encountered.

Kathern is survived by her husband and best friend of 46 years, Harold Leon Walters, Sr. of the home; her daughters, Angela Cook Locklear (Charles Everette Locklear, Jr.) and Frances Marie Cook both of Laurel Hill; her brothers, James Robert Stubbs, Jr. of Richmond County and William K. Stubbs of Rockingham; her grandchildren, Emily Boone, Trever Gage Cook, Dalton Jones and Kaydense Nichole Clark, and her great-granddaughters, Graceland Jones and Everleigh Mae Cook.  She is preceded in death by her son, Harold Leon Walters, Jr.; and her sister, Frances Marie Byrd.

Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium is assisting the Walter’s family.
