Katherine Hill McKay passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at her home.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Hillside Cemetery. A visitation will be 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM prior to the service at McDougald Funeral Home & Crematorium.
Born July 19, 1927 in Robeson County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Christine Graham McKay. She was a member of Laurinburg Presbyterian Church for 60 years.
Katherine was a graduate of Wagram High School where she was Salutatorian of her class. She received her BA from Flora McDonald College and her Masters in Early Childhood Development and a Masters in Reading from Appalachian State University.
She taught for 37 years at Covington Street Primary School and substituted in the local schools for several years. She was a lover of animals, especially her cats.
Katherine is survived by her sister, Jane Graham McKay of the home.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of one’s choice.
