Katherine O'Mirra Mabry, age 40, passed away on December 14, 2023, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
The family is planning a service at a later date and will be announced after the first of the year.
Born on January 2, 1983, in Scotland County, she was a daughter of Richard Thomas Mabry and Louise Rowell Mabry of Laurinburg.
Katherine, dedicated 22 years of her life to Scotia Village, where she worked in food service. Her passion for helping others extended far beyond her professional role, as she also proudly served as a volunteer fireman at the Stewartsville Fire Department, embodying courage and community spirit.
Her love for her community was demonstrated as she cooked at Camp Monroe, where the joy of seeing children's faces light up with each meal she prepared was a source of great happiness for her. Katherine's interests were deeply rooted in the arts and music, but it was her love for cooking and, more importantly, the joy of feeding people that filled her life with purpose and fulfillment. Katherine's life was a testament to her thoughtfulness and her unwavering commitment to serving others.
Along with her parents, Katherine is survived by her children, Estelle O'Mirra Collins and Sawyer James Mabry, both of Laurinburg; her sister, Martha Estelle Mabry, and her husband, Ian David Wallace of Durham; and her brother, James Donald Yow, and his wife, Melissa of Seven Lakes.
Katherine's life was a beautiful illustration of what it means to be selfless. She gave without expectation, served without hesitation, and loved without boundaries. Her presence in the community was a gift, and her actions a constant reminder of the profound impact one person can have on the lives of many.
