Born in Richmond County on July 29, 1938 she was the daughter of the late Jefferson Manley and Betsy Nichols Baldwin. We all knew and loved her as Julia Robinson who had a beautiful smile to share with everybody. Julia graduated from Lynchburg Business College in Lynchburg, Virginia. Out of college, she took a job in Mt. Gilead, when one day she had a flat tire on side of the rode and along came C.D. Robinson. He fixed the tire and asked her on a date. One thing led to another and they were married in 1958. They moved to Laurinburg where they raised a family and became charter members and active workers at Trinity Presbyterian Church. During this time, they opened Robinson Hardwood Cooperation until 1984 when she and her husband retired.
Julia was known for many accomplishments in her life. She was on the Board of Directors at the Richmond Community College for many years and was awarded the Trustee Emeritus Award for her distinguished service to the college. She served on the Board of Directors of the Scotch Meadows Country Club, and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. She was an avid golfer and was a member of the Scotch Meadows Ladies Golf Association.
She is survived by her son, Clyde Daniel “Danny” Robinson, III (Phyllis) of Laurinburg; two grandchildren, Jamie Leigh Vallandingham, and James Allen “J.J.” Parker; three great-grandchildren, Adam “A.J.” James Vallandingham, Jordan Wayne Parker, and Easton Cole Parker; sister, Mary Lou Baldwin Freeman (James), of Graham, NC; and brother, William "Sandy" Alexander Baldwin (Betty) of Rockingham, also David Bridgeman, whom she thought of as a son; and sister-in-law, Linda Baldwin. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Daniel “C.D.” Robinson, Jr., and brother, Jefferson Manley Baldwin, Jr.
