Judith Anne Sargent Stebbins, 85, passed away on September 13, 2026, in Laurinburg, NC.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Scotia Village in Laurinburg, NC.
Judy was born on November 16, 1940, in Johnson, Vermont, to Laura Baker Sargent and Greydon Teele Sargent, Sr. She graduated from Northfield High School and nursing school at Putnam Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, in Bennington, VT.
Judy married Allen Francis Stebbins on April 26, 1960. They traveled the U.S. and the world together, first in his Army career and later as full-time RVers. She could make any house a home and any campsite an adventure, always had a homemade treat for the bake sale, served as a scout troop leader, and never missed a parent-teacher conference. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast. She was known for her passion for sewing and for many years made adaptive clothing for wounded soldiers. Judy will be remembered for her generosity and her impact on others through her life-long volunteer work as well as the great love she had for her extended family.
She is survived by her daughter, Catherine (John) Carter and four grandsons, Elijah (Jessica), Isaiah (Amber), Jeremiah, and Zachariah Stebbins, one great-grandson, Jackson Randall Stebbins, her sister Nelita (Frank) Pecora, many nieces and nephews, and long-time friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Francis Stebbins; their sons, Randall Scott Stebbins and Christopher Allen Stebbins; her sister, Marlene (Don) Bonem; and brother Greydon Teele Sargent, Jr.
