Joy Lee (Clayton) Burns

Joy Lee Burns, 92, of Troy passed away Friday, May 23, 2025 at Autumn Care of Biscoe.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2025 at First Wesleyan Church, officiated by Rev. Ralph L. Clayton, Jr., Dr. Ed Lindsey, and Rev. Alex Heafner. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Born October 31, 1932, in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph L. and Mary Argie Clayton. Joylee was employed by First Bank in the Operation Center. As a young mother, she worked for Central Telephone Company. She loved going shopping and just getting out to see and do things. She was very independent and never met a stranger. Most of all she loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren and all her family. She was a member of the First Wesleyan Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Smith (Tony) of Pee Dee; son, Clayton Burns (Susan) of Carthage; grandchildren, Jarred, Emily, and Zachary; seven great grandchildren; and brother, Ralph L. Clayton, Jr. (Faye) of Reidsville. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Bob Burns; and sister, Becky Ann Heafner.

The family would like to thank the staff of Autumn Care for all the love and care for Joylee.
