Mrs. Josie Williamson "Jo" Hampton, 90, died Friday, February 11, at Scotia Village.
A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Hillside Cemetery officiated by the Revs. Wil Jackson and Billy Peele.
She is survived by a son, Wade L. Hampton and his wife, Katherine, of Albemarle; a daughter, Mary Jo Watson and her husband, James, of Laurinburg; 5 grandchildren, Markus McCall, Carolina Hampton, Caitlin Hampton, David Hampton, and Matthew Hampton; two great grandchildren, Hannah and Hunter Howell.
Born June 4, 1909 in Parkton, she was a daughter of the late Alexander B. and Elizabeth Badge Fisher Williamson. An alumnae of UNC-Greensboro, Mrs. Hampton came to Laurinburg in 1933, operating a beauty shop for several years. As a member of the First United Methodist Church, she served as a Sunday school teacher, as a circle member, and as a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was married for 54 years to the late Archie Wade Hampton, and they resided on West Boulevard until moving to Scotia Village in November 1989.
