Josh McKenzie, Jr., 85, died Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Morrison Manor.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Gibson Pentecostal Holiness Church officiated by the Revs. Joel Quick and Richard Tyson. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
He is survived by his sons, Mickey McKenzie, Jerry McKenzie (Carolyn), and Steven McKenzie of Gibson; his daughter, Brenda M. Cherry (Ronald) of Gibson; his grandchildren, Stacey, Michael, Shannon, Debbie, Mitchell, and Mackie McKenzie, Lisa Rushing, Allyson Cherry, and Bryan Cherry; 11 great grandchildren.
Born March 8, 1929 in Dillon County, SC, he was a son of the late Josh and Lola Mae Williamson McKenzie and widower of the late Rosa Mae McKenzie to whom he was married for 57 years. He worked early in life in the shipyards of Virginia and then served for over 30 years with Security Forces. In his spare time he enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing, and his dogs.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
