Laurinburg
Josephine Elizabeth Parker Ussery, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2009 in Laurinburg, N.C. following an extended illness.
Josephine was committed to family, church and volunteer efforts. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church Laurinburg where she was a faithful choir member. She was a 30-year employee of Haney's Tire Service, and President of the NC Tire Dealers Association in 1998-99. Family and friends will long remember Josephine as a wonderful cook, great listener and devoted friend who loved to laugh and sing.
Josephine grew up in Rockingham, N.C. and was preceded in death by her parents, Colon and Edna Parker, as well as, sisters Joyce White and Janet Sample. Surviving family members include husband of 52 years, Bob; daughter Cathy Eason and husband L.F. ; daughter Beth Tote and husband John; and grandchildren Kevin, Laura, Jonathan, and David all of Cary, N.C.. Also surviving is brother, Floyd Parker, of Greenville, S.C.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 21 from 5-7 p.m. at McDougald Funeral Home in Laurinburg. Following a family graveside service, a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 22 at First Baptist Church Laurinburg at 302 E. Church Street.
