Mrs. Josephine Locklear Leviner, 84, of Gibson Road died Monday, April 13, 2009.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at the Grace Chapel Holiness Church, Hwy. 74, Hamlet officiated by the Rev. Glenn Volrath Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, R. J. Leviner and wife, Becky of Belton, SC and Darnell Leviner of Gibson; two daughters, Patricia Locklear and husband, Thomas of Laurinburg and Ann Holly and husband, Rhett of Douglasville, GA; three brothers, Willard Locklear and Robert Lee Locklear of Gibson, and the Rev. Henry Locklear of Hamlet; four sisters, Zettie Belle Baxley of Laurinburg, Lizzie Jacobs of Gibson, Iona Faulk of Hickory, and Lena Mae Caulder of Asheboro; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, a former daughter, Shirley Crawford of Hamlet. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Leviner; son, Earl Leviner, Jr., sisters, Jessie Lee Williams and Evalene Coble; and brothers, Lawrence Locklear and James Locklear.
Born November 1, 1924 in Robeson County, she was a daughter of the late the Rev. Robert Locklear and Carrie Goins Locklear. She worked at Ingraham Clock Company for 17 years prior to retiring. Josephine enjoyed gardening, cooking, and growing flowers. Fixing Christmas dinner for her family was the highlight of the year.
The family will receive friends at the home of Thomas and Patricia Locklear, 10460 X-Way Rd., and from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
