Joseph Craig Sheppard

Joseph Craig Sheppard was born April 22, 1949 in Marlboro County, SC. He passed away on July 18, 2024 at the age of 75 in Morrison Manor, Laurinburg, NC.

Joe or Craig as he was known to family, friends and coworkers was a nature enthusiast. He was an avid fisherman who fancied his homemade lures and loved all sorts of animals and the outdoors. He was mechanically inclined and could fix about anything he put his mind to.  He was known as a medicine guru, who would eagerly share remedies for whatever ailed someone. A huge Elvis fan, he could charm a crowd with his Elvis looks and vocal renditions. He also enjoyed camping, watching fishing shows and good Westerns.

Joe worked as a maintenance engineer at Marmon Engine Controls, formerly Rostra Precision Controls and Dana Corporation for more than 46 years, serving the company in many capacities through several mergers and transitions. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Agnes Dutch and Douglas Sheppard along with his brother, Earnest Wayne Sheppard. He is survived by sons, Douglas Craig Sheppard, Joseph Aaron Sheppard both of Laurinburg, NC and Prentiss Cody Sheppard (Ashli) of Chesterfield, SC; a daughter, Pamela Sheppard Hill of Southern Pines, NC; two sisters, Patricia Bean of Laurinburg, NC and Deborah Sheppard of Laurel Hill, NC; a special friend, Sherry Meeks of Laurinburg, NC and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bumgarner Family Funeral and Crematorium. A visitation/memorial is scheduled for Saturday, July 27th between 2pm and 4pm.
