Joseph Porter Gardner, 93, of Brian Nursing Center, Yanceyville, NC, died Monday Jan 14, 2002 in Danville Regional Medical Center Danville, VA.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 pm. Thursday at Caledonia United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Anna Kelly officiating.
He is survived a son, Monroe Gardner of Reidsville, NC. A brother H.C. "Cub" Gardner of Laurinburg, NC. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Born July 21, 1908 in Scotland County a son of the late Vernon and Rosa Porter Gardner. He was a retired guard with the Department of Corrections. He was preceded in death by his son J.P. Gardner, Jr. and his brother Hugh Gardner.
