Joseph Wyatte Creech Sr., 80 of Laurinburg, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Morrison Manor.

A funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Michael Malpass. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.

Born March 1, 1937 in Johnston County, he was a son of the late Edwin Puckett and Rena Irene Daughtry Creech.   He married Mary Ellen Kitchin Creech on August 21, 1960.  After her passing in 2011, he married Sylvia Williams in 2015.  He taught at Carolina Military Academy in Maxton and was a retired educator of Robeson County Schools. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 417 of Maxton and was also a By-Products manager with J.P. Stevens.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Williams Creech of the home; sons, Joseph “Joey” Wyatte Creech Jr. and Kenneth Wayne Creech (Rose) both of Laurinburg; daughter, Candy Creech Underwood (Mark) of Fayetteville; sisters, Marjorie Hogg of Raleigh and Lovia Eldridge of Newton Grove; and grandchildren, Ted Underwood, Justin Berry, Jessica Creech and Ellen Underwood. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ellen Kitchin Creech and a brother, Russell Creech.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2018 at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
