Johnsie Gibson Burton, 88, formerly of Laurel Hill passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Scotia Village.
A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Presbyterian Church in the Pines, Laurel Hill by the Rev. Dr. Gene Miller. A private committal will proceed at the Gibson Family Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Frank Burton; her daughter, Barbara Nassif and husband, Ed, of Laurel Hill; her grandchildren, Bert Nassif and wife, Liz of Mount Holly and Mark Nassif and wife, Randi, of Charlotte; her great grand children, Alyia Nassif and Ward Nassif of Mount Holly.
Born December 26, 1924 in Scotland County, she was a daughter of the late John P. and Ruth Markhum Gibson. She attended Montreat College and served as a secretary for the ACSC, later at the Church in the Pines, and for many years at Morgan Mills. She was a former member of the Women of the Church and a Deacon. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing bridge, the beach and seafood, cooking quail and fish, and gourmet cooking.
