John Quincy Young

John Quincy Young, 66, was born August 15, 1956 to the late John Quincy Broadway and Mary Geneva Young of Troy. He departed his earthly life on May 27, 2023. John was raised in Montgomery County where he attended Montgomery County Public Schools.

A graveside service will be held Monday, June 12, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Southside Cemetery in Troy, officiated by Rev. M.H. Russell.  A public visitation will be held Friday, June 9, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service.

John worked at American Fiber until he retired. John had a passion for singing with his uncles in the group, “The Mighty Tears of Joy”. John was a faithful member at the Throne of Grace Church in Charlotte for many years. He served as a Trustee and on the Security Ministry. He was very active at church and loved his church family. He especially loved his mother, Geneva Leak.

John leaves to cherish his memories with his children, Jonathan Flowers and Travis Flowers; grandson, Rodney Williams; sisters, Patricia Harris (Kenneth), Doris Freeman, and Sharion Bowden; a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends; and very special friend, Virginia Covington. John will be truly missed by all who knew him.
