John Ralph Thompson

John Ralph Thompson, age 79, of Mt. Gilead passed away Monday, February 3, 2020 at Atrium Health University City Hospital, Charlotte, NC.

Services will be private.

Mr. Thompson was born December 1, 1940 in Montgomery County.  He was a son of the late Irvin Rankin Thompson and Ila Marie Morton Thompson.  He was a US Army veteran and a thirty-plus year employee of McRae Industries.  After retirement he became a farmer.

He is survived by two sons; Jack Thompson and Steve Thompson, both of Mt. Gilead; one daughter, Reba Ann Nanney of Mt. Gilead; two brothers, James Paul Thompson of Mt. Gilead and Irvin Thompson, Jr. of Candor; and nine grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Reba Harrington Thompson; one son, Michael Joe Thompson; one daughter, Teauna Nanney; one sister, Barbara T. Stone and one grandchild.
