Mr. John Terrell Rogers, Jr. 88, of Willow Haven Nursing Home died Friday at Scotland Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday in Hillside Memorial Park with Rev. Will I. Jackson officiating.
Born January 26, 1912 in Little Rock, SC, he was the son of the late John Terrell and Emma Alice Berry Rogers. His son, John Terrell Rogers, III, preceded him in death.
Mr. Rogers was a general manager for McNair Farms for many years. He received awards from the N.C. Association of Soil and Water Conservation and the Woodmen of the World Conservation Award. He was a member of the Laurinburg Lions Club. A member of the First United Methodist Church, he was a member of the Ed Guest Sunday School and held numerous offices in the church. He lived a full life with faith and compassion for others.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Mitchell Rogers; a son, William Earle Rogers and wife Susan of Laurinburg; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Rogers of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Sara Rabon of Raleigh; John Terrell Rogers, VI, and wife Teresa of Raleigh; Virginia Lynn Holste and husband Greg of Asheville; Courtney Gwen Dumas and husband Charles of Asheville. Four great-grandchildren also survive him.
