John Franklin Dunn

John Franklin Dunn, 76, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020 at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital Troy.

The family will receive friends at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 from 1:00-3:00 pm.  Following the visitation, the family will have an informal memorial service officiated by Dr. Harold Pope.

Born June 29, 1944 in Montgomery County, he is a son of Georgia Shofe and the late Charlie Lee Dunn.  He retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation with 38 years of service.  John lived for hunting and fishing and he and Dillon ran dogs almost every weekend.  He spent a lot of time with his great grandchildren and was a family-oriented man.

John is survived by sons, Danny Dunn and Ricky Dunn both of Randolph County; daughter, Gina Dennis of Troy; brothers, Roby Dunn, Roy Dunn and Charles Dunn all of Black Ankle; sister, Lois Brady of Bennett, NC; grandchildren, Casey Dennis of Putnam, NC, John Dennis of High Point, and Dillon Dennis of Bunnlevel, NC; great grandchildren, Makaila Ballard, Addy Dennis, Bailie Dennis and Benjamin Dennis.  He is preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Sandra Dunn and a brother, Joe Dunn.
