Dr. John Arthur Clayton, 58, of 624 Prince Street died Friday, September 1, at his residence.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 9, at the Hospice Memorial Gardens officiated by the Rev. Phil Barrineau and Chaplain Nancy Willard.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Dillard Clayton; two sons, Shawn Clayton of Boylston, MA and Troy Clayton of Elliot, ME; his father, Arthur Clayton of Gloucester, MA; a step daughter, Amelia Sword of Van Nuys, CA; his dog, Molly; two grandshildren, Taryn Clayton of Elliot, ME and Grace Victoria Sword of Van Nuys, CA.
Born March 3, 1942 in Lowell, MA, he was a son of Arthur Clayton and the late Alice Griffin Clayton. He received his undergraduate degree in business administration and his Masters in physical education from the University of Massachusetts and his Phd in Exercise Science from the Universidty of Oregon. He was chairman of the Exercise Science department at St. Andrews Presbyterian College.
