Joe Albert Young

Joe Albert Young, 88, of Laurel Hill, passed away on October 16, 2023, at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

The family will have a memorial service on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Faith Presbyterian Church in Laurinburg officiated, by Rev. Jeff Mercer. Inurnment will be private.

He was born on January 30, 1935  in the Mouth of Wilson, VA to James Albert and Edith Taylor Young.  Joe was known by his kindness and quietness.  He was an active business man with a Christmas tree farm and chicken houses to name a few. He enjoyed bluegrass music and loved the beach.

Joe is survived by his long time companion, Sarah Thompson; daughter, Joan Young (Joey Whittle); son, Brian Tilley (Beth) of Troy; daughter-in-law, Sharon D. Young of Gibson; grandchildren, Justin Young of Burnsville, Jim Young of Gibson, and Jesse Lisk of Hamlet; great-grandchildren, Christopher Layton, Candace Lisk, Jaddah Young and Kylie Young; great great-grandchildren, Harper Lisk and Carter Brown; and sisters, Linda Halsy and Jan Jackson. He also leaves behind many friends and as well as his coffee club in Laurel Hill.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jerry Young and his sons, Jeff and Jim Young.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Faith Presbyterian Church, 2220 Elm Avenue. Laurinburg, NC 28352.
