Joann (Coggins) Hamilton

Joann Coggins Hamilton, 89, of Troy, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Autumn Care of Biscoe.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Love Joy Church Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Casey Harris and Rev. Ron Scott. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Born June 2, 1934, in Montgomery County, she was a daughter of the late Cled and Delia Taylor Coggins.  Joann enjoyed making quilts and porcelain dolls, basket weaving, cooking, singing, and her yard work. She was the director of the annual Christmas play at Love Joy Church for several decades. Joann was very active in her church, and she was a Sunday school teacher for a number of years.

She is survived by her son, Deon Hamilton (Charlotte) of Troy; grandchildren, Emily Harris and Daniel Hamilton, both of Troy, and Bethany Cody, Kristen McKinzie, and Taylor Cody, all of FL; great-grandchildren, Laney Harris of Troy, and Kaleb McKinzie of FL. She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Glynn Deon Hamilton; daughter, Debbie Thompson, brother, Jack Coggins; and sisters, Edna Campbell, Ruby Everhart, Leatha Lowder, and Ruth Honeycutt.
