Joan Harpold Hill, 81, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Clapp’s Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro.

Born on May 17, 1943, in Guilford County, she was a daughter of the late Virgil and Beulah Johnson Harpold. Joan's interests and hobbies were a reflection of her vibrant personality. She was known for her skillful hands at the Canasta table, where she shared laughter and friendly competition with her friends and family. Her green thumb was evident in the lush garden that she tended with love and care. Her passion for Nascar was unmatched, and she could often be found cheering on her favorite driver, Jeff Gordon, during every race. A faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Troy, Joan's commitment to her faith was unwavering.
Joan is survived by her sons, Jerry Osborne (Brenda) of Troy, Robert Osborne (Kathy) of Greensboro, and Harvey Hill, Jr. of Asheboro; brother, Frank Harpold of Nevada City, CA; sisters, Geneva Clodfelter and Geraldine Draughn, both of Greensboro, Maurine Daves of Summerton, SC, and Darlene Warriner of Round Rock, TX. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Wilmoth, Betty Evans, Pat Wright, and Vera Pope.
