Jim Erwin Taylor, 84, died Friday, June 30, 2012 at Scotland Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Springfield Church of God officiated by the Revs. Carl Fosdick and Kenneth Blease. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
He is survived by his constant companion, Annie Mae Perkins of Laurinburg; his former wife, Beulah Mae Taylor of Laurinburg; his son, Dewey Taylor of Laurinburg; his daughter, Ethel Chavis (David) of Appomattox, VA; his sisters, Lena Smith and Dot Snead (Lester) of Laurinburg; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sons, James, Donald, and Julius "June Bug," and by ten of his siblings.
Born May 12, 1928 in Scotland County, he was a son of the late James H. and Eliza Ann Sessoms Taylor. Erwin began farming and later worked with Waverly Mills before beginning work as a carpenter with his brother, Grover. Together they remodeled or built numerous structures in Scotland County.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
