Mrs. Jewel Whitaker Peacock, 100, formerly of West Boulevard died Thursday, December 22, at the Edwin Morgan Center.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 29, at the First United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. John Cottingham. A graveside service will be 10:30 Saturday, December 24, at Hillside Cemetery.

She is survived by a son, Dr. Jack Peacock and wife, Adri of El Paso, TX; and three grandsons.

Born September 4, 1905 in Laurinburg, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Mary McCall Peacock and widow of the late Jackson B. Peacock.

Jewel was a former teller and secretary for The State Bank and later was a bookkeeper for Morgan Mills. She later worked as a clerk in the business office at St. Andrews Presbyterian College.
