Mrs. Jessie Bell Butler, 87, of Wagram Road died Monday, August 29, at Century Care.
A funeral service will be 12:00 noon Friday at Northview Harvest Ministries officiated by the Rev. Kenneth Blease. Burial will follow in Scotland Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas Butler and wife, Sherry of Laurel Hill, Larry Butler of Laurinburg; three daughters, Shirley Finch and husband, Wayne , Dixie Juergens and husband, Hans of Laurinburg, and Vaun Seal Johnson and husband, James of Wilmington; two adopted daughters, Danielle B. Smith and husband, Johnny and Sonya Butler of Laurinburg; a sister, Naomi Deal of McColl, SC; 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Butler and a daughter, Mary Joyce Lamont.
Born June 5, 1919 in Marlboro County, she was a daughter of the late French and Angeline Jacobs Revels. Jessie was a charter member of Northview Harvest Ministries where she was a Sunday School teacher for 35 years. At the age of 60, Jessie received her GED from Richmond Community College graduating with a 97 average and also learned to play the guitar. Jessie loved animals and had several pets that she cared for even when her health was failing. She wrote poetry and leaves behind many of her poems. She was a retired certified nursing assistant and cared for many patients. She was a loving, caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and friend.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday at Northview Harvest Ministries.
