Mr. Jesse M. Hawkins, 81 of Scotia Village died Wednesday, March 21, at his home.

Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday in the Morris Morgan Room at Scotia Village officiated by the Rev. Dr. Neal Carter and Rev. Elizabeth Forester. Interment will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the West End Presbyterian Church columbarium.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Hawkins; two daughters, Karen Wuestenfeld and husband, Bill of Anchorage, Alaska and Kathi Schrein and husband, David of Hiram, Georgia; grandchildren, Kate and Matt Wuestenfeld and Steven and Scott Schrein; cousins, Brice Colwell and Mary Colwell; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and Bill Tauber.

Mr. Hawkins was born April 27, 1925 at home in Nutley, NJ, to Kathryn and Jesse Hawkins. He joined the US Army in 1943 and trained as a fighter pilot in the Army Air Corps. He graduated from Lafayette College in 1950 and worked at the B.F. Goodrich Company for 26 years. He retired from the R.C. Musson Rubber Company in 1988.

He met Joan Bistline, the love of his life, on a blind date and they married on September 22, 1951.

Mr. Hawkins was an avid golfer, with the skill to score a hole-in-one. He was a dedicated gardener and enjoyed working with Joan to make his home a beautiful place. He loved the ocean, music, especially soft jazz and always enjoyed a good suspense novel.

The family will receive friends in the Morris Morgan room from 12:30 p.m. until time for the service of Friday.
