Jerry Wayne Simmons

Jerry Wayne Simmons,71, of Troy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at his residence.

A Celebration of Life will be held by the family on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at his residence in Troy.

Born on October 29, 1953, in Columbus County, he was a son of the late Numan Rdell and Erma Coleman Simmons. Jerry's zest for life and creative spirit touched everyone he met. Jerry proudly served his country in the US Air Force, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried into his civilian life. His dedication to service was matched only by his passion for the arts. An accomplished artist, Jerry’s works were a testament to his talent and his ability to see beauty in the world around him. Jerry’s love for the great outdoors was unparalleled. He found joy in snow skiing, golf, working, canoeing and camping.

He is survived by his daughters, Jessica Peske of Missouri and Lauren Hausch of Durham; brother, Jack Simmons of Summerville, SC; sisters, Rebecca Crayton of Troy, Shirley Britt of Lexington, and Pat Lowder of Albemarle; and grandson, Caleb Peske. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Dan Simmons and Kenneth Simmons; and sister, Betty Ross.
