Jerry Eugene Moore

Jerry Eugene Moore, 78, formerly of Newport, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021 at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Wesleyan Church in Troy, officiated by Dr. Ed Lindsey. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service in the church. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, please practice social distancing and wear a face mask or another form of face covering.

Born July 14, 1943 in Randolph County, he was a son of the late Jesse and Rena Harper Moore. Jerry was employed with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for many years and later on he painted houses.

He is survived by his sons, Jerry “J.J.” Eugene Moore, Jr. of Troy, Vincent Moore of Robbins, David Cayton (Tina Wilson) of Hampstead, Steve Piar (Janet) of Washington, NC; daughters, Sandra M. Brown of Cary and Shannon Helms of Carolina Beach; sister, Wilma Fiest of Troy; and brother, Gary Moore of Seagrove; grandchildren, Penny Moore, Wendy Mauney, Rikki Dunn, Keri Escabar, Vivian Brown, Kenley Moore, Kristen Helms, Taylor Helms, Trace Helms, Sapphire Wilson, Jade Wilson, Cody Piar, Amy Piar, Stephanie Piar, Trey Cooper, Katelyn Cooper, and Alexis Taylor; and great-grandchildren, Cameron Wilson, Kyla Lamonds, Kaitlyn Mauney, Luke Mauney, Parker Dunn, Melanie Moore, and Rosa Lee Escabar. He is preceded in death by one grandson, Zane; and brothers, Leon Earl Moore and Ronald Lee Moore.
