J.C. (Bunky) Callicutt, Jr.

J.C. (Bunky) Callicutt, Jr., of Troy passed away peacefully at his residence on February 16, 2025, at the age of 71.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, February 23, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Callicutt Family Cemetery, 985 Horseshoe Bend Rd., Troy, NC 27371, officiated by Rev. Sid Black. The family will receive friends after the service.

Born on December 27, 1953, in Montgomery County, he was the son of the late J.C., Sr. and Peggy Harris Callicutt.  J.C. was a man whose life was characterized by a deep love for his family, a strong work ethic, and a passion for the simple pleasures in life. He dedicated many years of hard work to Walburg Sand Company in Hoffman, where he was known for his reliability and strong sense of camaraderie.

Beyond his professional life, J.C. was a man of many interests. He cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He beamed with pride and happiness while listening to his grandson play the banjo. J.C. was also a skilled woodworker, creating beautiful pieces that were both functional and artistic.

His cabin was a place of solace and joy for J.C., where he could immerse himself in the tranquility of nature. It was there that he could be found whittling away at his latest project or simply enjoying the company of his family and friends. His donkey, Leroy, was a cherished companion, and the two could often be spotted on leisurely walks around the property, much to the amusement and delight of visitors.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Lynn S. Callicutt of the home; son, Jeremy Callicutt (Cassie) of Troy; daughters Mandy Callicutt (Travis) and Hannah Callicutt (Tristan), both of Troy; and grandchildren, Brayden, Macy, Madelyn, and Jake.
